Rocket Nation – McComas Village Part 2 – In 46-days (Sunday, September 28th), the day after UToledo Homecoming, the UT Greek Alumni Affiliate Chapter will celebrate the 35th Anniversary of McComas Village. Bring your children, neighbors, colleagues, and friends for a tour of the houses and a firsthand look at what modern college life is like.

Walk Down Memory Lane

On April 7, 1988 former UT President Jim McComas appointed the following stakeholders to research, fund and build The Greek Village:

UT Employees – Dr. Alice Skeens, Chair – President’s Office, Lori Edgeworth – Secretary – Greek Life and Student Activities, Dr. Dan Abrahamowicz – Dean of Students, Wayne Gates – Director of Residence Life, Willard Smith – Vice President of Finance, James Todd – Chief Finance Officer, Fred Peltier – Director of Facilities

Fraternity and Sorority Alumni Advisors – James Irmen, Jeff Traudt, Lois Whiteman, Irene Ehrmin, Rob Roche, Richard Jackson

UT Fraternity and Sorority Members – Jim Dunwoodie, Doug Rammel, Kelly Konz, Jennifer Stewart, Leigh Moore, Ricardo King

ChatGPT offered that if Dr. McComas and Dr. Skeen were alive today and were walking through The Village they might ask the following questions:

Governance & Structure – Are alumni and student voices meaningfully influencing policy? Are UT leaders honoring GVPC’s advisory role vs. UT’s administrative authority?

Mission & Partnership – Are UT leaders still providing GVPC advisors an opportunity to review and recommend changes to policies before implementing them?

Student Impact – Is GVPC still improving the quality of life, academic engagement, and retention for UT students living in The Village? Is UT Admissions still using GVPC and Greek students as a key recruiting tool?

Institutional Memory – Are GVPC advisors still helping to onboard new UT leaders, managers and employees on the history and founding vision of McComas Village and the spirit of co-governance and collaboration?

Recognition – Are alumni volunteers still treated and celebrated as essential partners in student success?

Strategic Future – Do UT leaders still view GVPC as a vital partner in advancing recruitment, retention, and student engagement goals? Are UT and GVPC collaborating on the future of fraternity and sorority living on campus?
